AJA Quality Conversion
Io XT features full 10-bit, broadcast-quality, motion-adaptive SD to HD up-conversion, HD to HD cross-conversion, HD to SD down-conversion, and automatic HD/SD 12-bit component analog output. Since all conversion functionality on the Io XT is hardware-based, it's available all the time on ingest or playback.

Uniquely, the Io XT can cross-convert 720p 23.98 to 1080PsF 23.98. Cross-conversion is particularly valuable in today's multi-format HD post environment where producing pristine 720p or 1080i signals at-will helps streamline dailies and deliverables.

Connectivity
For SDI digital video, Io XT features two 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and two outputs, plus HDMI 1.3 input and HDMI 1.4a output-including support for 3D. Also included are component/composite output, LTC or Reference input, LTC output, 8 channels of embedded digital audio I/O and 8 channels of analog audio output.

For professional machine control, Io XT has a 9-pin RS422 connector. If you're using a Digital Betacam, DVCPro50, HDCAM, DVCPRO HD, D5, or HDCAM SR VTR-or any other professional device–you'll have the proper connections.

Dual link and 4:4:4 HD support
Io XT supports single link 3G 4:4:4 and dual link 4:4:4 HD-SDI, with full bandwidth 4:4:4 RGB at 10-bits for 1080i, 1080p, 1080PsF and 720p formats. Io XT can even convert between 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 formats for single link HD-SDI monitoring and output.

Connectivity
For SDI video, the KONA LHe Plus features one input and two outputs and can be configured independently for HD or SD. The Hi5 Fiber converts HD/SD-SDI over single mode 1310 nm Fiber optic cable (ST-style Fiber connector) to HDMI for driving HDMI monitors. Embedded 8-channel HD/SD-SDI audio is supported in the HDMI output allowing a convenient single cable audio/video connection. The Hi5 provides 2 Channel RCA style audio outputs for separate audio monitoring if needed.

The HD10AM is a dual rate 8 channel AES audio Embedder/Disembedder. The Disembedder is always functional providing 4 AES outputs. The Embedder is user selectable, on a channel pair basis, to either "pass" SDI input audio or to embed input AES audio from the breakout cable. AES inputs are sample rate converted to a 48KHz rate synchronous to the video input. The HD10AM automatically detects and configures to the input video standard.

The RD20DA is a multi-standard, 2-channel, 1x4 and 1x3 SDI Distribution Amplifier. The SDI input is re-clocked and equalised to 300 meters of cable. In addition, the multi-standard feature allows the RD20DA to automatically adapt to 143, 177, 270, or 360 Mb SDI inputs.

The AJA Video R44E provides four composite analog monitoring outputs from four separate SDI inputs. Each channel has a separate D/A converter with a 10-bit DAC and 8-bit broadcast encoding. Values below black and above white are not clipped. Each channel has a test pattern generator with separate user selectable blanking controls. The R44E also features automatic NTSC or PAL configuration. It fits the AJA R-Series Rack Mount Frames as well as other standard industry frames.

The FR1 and FR2 mounting frames provide high-density rackmount solutions for AJA's R-Series modules. The FR1 is a 1 RU frame with 4 slots; the FR2 is a 2 RU frame with 10 slots. Both frames feature high-capacity power supplies with no power restrictions for any module combination. Also, both frames feature multi-fan forced-air cooling, which provides ample cooling capacity without the need for an empty rack space above the units. Both frames feature optional redundant power supplies - the FR2's power supplies are easily changed from the front of the unit. Also, both the FR1 and FR2 feature a frame colour black reference input that is distributed to all slots.

The RH10UC is a 10-bit SD to HD up-converter. Using motion-adaptive de-interlacing and high quality digital scalers, the RH10UC provides excellent Broadcast quality HD video from SD sources. Output HD video is selectable between 720p and 1080I formats. 4:3 to 16:9 aspect ratio conversion is selectable between 4:3 pillarbox, 14:9 crop, 16:9 anamorphic, and 16:9 zoom. Input SD ITU Rec. 601 colour space is converted to ITU Rec. 709. The RH10UC passes 8 channel embedded audio with a compensating delay. Additionally, the RH10UC can operate as a stand-alone HD or SD Frame Synchroniser. The RH10UC is compatible with AJA's FR1 or FR2 frames.

The R20CE SDI to Analog Video Converter provides excellent quality 10-bit conversion of SDI to component and composite video formats simultaneously. The 4 analog outputs are user configurable to NTSC/PAL, YC (S-Video), YPbPr (SMPTE, EBU-N10), Betacam, or RGB. The R20AD provides excellent quality, 10-bit conversion of component or composite analog video video to SDI. The R20AD accepts YPbPr (SMTE, EBU-N10), Betacam, or RGB component inputs and NTSC/PAL or YC (S-Video) composite inputs. The R20AD features a 3 Line Adaptive Comb Filter for high quality decoding of composite sources. The comb filter can be switched to 2 line or notch modes for minimum delay requirements. 3G/HD-SDI Multiplexer To HDMI 1.4a and SDI Video and Audio Converter

The Hi5-3D is a 3D video multiplexer that combines two 3G or HD-SDI Inputs into various multiplexed 3D formats for output on HDMI 1.4a and HD-SDI. The HDMI 1.4a output supports EDID transactions that allow automatic 2D/3D configuration per the HDMI monitor's capabilities. Input SDI 2 will be frame synchronised to input SDI 1 in 3D Modes. Embedded SDI input audio is embedded in both the HDMI and SDI outputs. 2 channel RCA audio output is also supported with user control of channel selection. The Hi5-3D supports AJA's Mini-Config application for user configuration and firmware download.

3D Modes Supported
The Hi5-3D supports, depending on the video format, "side-by-side", "top-bottom", and "frame- packing" 3D modes. The "side-by-side" and "top-bottom" modes involve compressing, either horizontally or vertically, each input for combining into a single video stream at the same rate of the inputs. The "frame-packing" mode stacks two full resolution inputs into a "tall" frame (at twice the clock and line rates). When selected, "frame- packing" can only be used with 23.98/24Hz input frame rates.

Each input, in addition to 3D processing, can be flipped either horizontally, vertically, or both. This control is provided by 4 switches that can be engaged in any combination.

Format support
The Hi5-3D works with both 2D and 3D inputs. When in the 2D mode, the input is simply passed to the output unmodified. In the 3D mode, the Hi5-3D supports the minimum required 3D modes as defined by the CEA for HDMI 1.4a televisions.

Notes:
"psf" inputs are converted to "p" for HDMI output. The SDI output can support S/S and T/B formats only. Future software versions may add other frame rates.

User Control
The Hi5-3D supports both dipswitch control and host control via the Mini-Config application. One of the dipswitches is a "Local/Remote" switch. When in the "Local" mode, the remaining dipswitches support a subset of the user controls. When in the "Remote" mode, AJA's Mini-Config application controls the unit (or control as last set).

The HI5 converts SDI or HD-SDI to HDMI for driving HDMI monitors. Embedded SDI/HD-SDI audio is supported in the HDMI output allowing a convenient single cable audio/video connection. The HI5 provides 2 Channel RCA style audio outputs for separate audio monitoring if needed. The HI5 also provides a looping SDI/HD-SDI output useful for connecting additional equipment, or for “daisy chaining” multiple monitors to the same SDI-HD-SDI source.

The D4E SDI Encoder provides the lowest cost all-digital conversion of SDI to analog NTSC or PAL. Broadcast-quality conversions
KONA 3G features full 10-bit, broadcast-quality, motion-adaptive SD to HD up-conversion, HD to HD cross-conversion, HD to SD down-conversion, and automatic HD/SD 12-bit component analog output. Since all conversion functionality on the KONA 3G is hardware-based, it's available all the time on ingest or playback.

Uniquely, the KONA 3G can even cross-convert 720p 23.98 to 1080PsF 23.98. Cross-conversion is particularly valuable in today's multi-format HD post environment where being able to produce pristine 720p or 1080i signals at-will helps streamline dailies and deliverables creation.

Internal SD/HD hardware downstream keyer
The AJA KONA 3G features a powerful hardware downstream keyer that can place graphic files with an alpha channel over the video being input to the board—or a selectable colour matte, or the contents of the card's framebuffer (ex: AJA TV/Apple Final Cut Pro). The downstream keyer can also key a QuickTime video clip that has an alpha channel by playing it in realtime, via the supplied AJA TV application, over live video coming into the card.

Connectivity
For SDI video, the card features two 3G/HD/SD-SDI inputs and two outputs, HDMI 1.4a monitoring output, LTC input and output, one connection for Genlock input, and configurable 3x BNC HD/SD analog video output. Also included is a 9-pin connector for RS-422 machine control. If you're using a Digital Betacam, DVCPro50, HDCAM, DVCPRO HD, D5, or HDCAM SR VTR—or any other professional device–you'll have the proper connections.

Dual link HD support
KONA 3G supports Dual Link 4:4:4 HD-SDI, with full bandwidth 4:4:4 RGB at 10-bits for 1080i, 1080p, 1080PsF and 720p formats. KONA 3G can also convert between 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 formats for single link HD-SDI monitoring and output.

2K support
As the most capable 2K card for the Mac, you can use KONA 3G to ingest from 3G or HSDL (high speed data link) equipped sources and record at full frame rate or record simultaneous 2K DPX files and 2K QuickTime reference movies using the AJA VTR Xchange application. You can also work with existing 2K material, like sequential DPX or Cineon files, by using AJA's DPXToQT Translator application to create QuickTime files for a wide variety of applications. RED Epic and ARRI Alexa workflows are eased by KONA 3G, with true realtime 2K playback and LUT support.

On a PC, KONA 3G can connect to a 2K telecine saving time and steps by directly creating 2K DPX, QuickTime, Cineon, AVI, TGA, TIFF or BMP files. Users can capture directly into the format they need and move files immediately into their editing/compositing environment of choice. These same files can be played out at 2K via 3G or High Speed Data Link (HSDL), offering further synergy with other 2K products already in use in the market.

KONA 3G also allows 2K files to be viewed with a user selected crop function on HD 1080PsF supported video monitors. This functionality helps lower the price barrier for viewing 2K material.

The 1080 HD playout can additionally be down-converted to SD in realtime, giving users a powerful solution for multi-format video playout of 2K material and flexible tape mastering options.

The HDP2 is a miniature HD-SDI/SDI to DVI-D converter for digital display devices, such as LCD, DLP, and Plasma monitors or projectors. Using a very high quality scaling engine and de-interlacer, the HDP2 will automatically size 4:3 or 16:9 inputs to many DVI-D monitors. For appropriate monitor configurations, scaling is automatically 1 to 1-for example, displaying 1920x1080 video on a WUXGA (1920x1200) monitor. Mini Converters instantly switch between standard definition and high definition video formats and changeover is automatic when the video input changes. A huge range of video standards are supported including, NTSC, PAL, 1080i/59.94, 1080i/50, 1080psf/23.98, 1080psf/24, 720p/59.94 and 720p/50 formats, plus new formats can be added via USB.

Redundant SDI Input
Mini Converters feature a unique redundant input for mission critical tasks such as broadcast or live events. You can connect a redundant cable to the second input, so if the main input is lost due to cable damage or any other cause, Mini Converter will automatically switch over to the redundant input cable. This lets you can use Mini Converters in locations where crowds or the environment might cause cable damage, or lets you place Mini Converters in hard to reach locations such as roof mounted video projectors etc. A loop though SDI output is also provided for connecting to other devices. A loop-through SDI connection is also great if you need more than 2 audio channels, as you can connect the loop-through to another Mini Converter to de-embed extra audio channels!

Only Mini Converters include the latest 3 Gb/s SDI technology and upgrades can be loaded via the built in USB connection for future video format compatibility. 3 Gb/s SDI is also fully compatible with all your standard definition and high definition SDI equipment.

Built in AES/EBU or Analog Audio
Standard 1/4 inch jacks are built in for balanced analog or AES/EBU audio. Because Mini Converters use standard 1/4 inch jack connectors for all audio connections, you can use standard cables commonly available from any pro audio store. Unlike other converters, Mini Converters don't need custom cables, as any balanced 1/4 inch jack cable can be used. Mini Converters are also unique as the same 1/4 inch jack connections can be switched between professional balanced analog audio, or AES/EBU digital audio. This means you only need one model of Mini Converter for both analog and digital audio. You can select the type of audio from one of the mini switches on the side of the Mini Converter unit. On modes with AES/EBU digital audio in, a sample rate converter lets you connect to any AES/EBU source, either synchronised, or unsynchronised. On HDMI models, you also have full access to the HDMI audio embedded in the HDMI video connection.

Intensity Shuttle is a USB 3.0 version of Intensity Pro, however it also includes separate connections for HDMI 1.3, component, composite and s-video, with full 10 bit quality. It powers from the USB 3.0 connection, and is very compact in an attractive white inline design.

The quality of Intensity Shuttle video is amazing, and I think one of the most exciting things BMD have done is to build in broadcast quality video at a consumer price.

Based on the PCI Express form factor, the STORM 3G solution includes EDIUS nonlinear editing software, 3G HD-SDI inputs and outputs and an HDMI output for full resolution, real-time preview monitoring. Timecode input and output is supported via the RS-422 port for accurate editing from field logs. The reference input supports both analogue blackburst and tri-level sync. External VTR ingest can be controlled via the RS-422 port and the optional VTR for direct playout from the workstation.
