The BR-HD50E features digital input and output via an IEEE 1394 standard 6-pin connector for lossless transfer and recording of high and standard definition material alike.

The BR-HD50E’s tape mechanism accepts both full size DV and miniDV cassettes and so has the capacity to record up to 276 minutes of video in either standard or high definition. The unit supports signals that are recorded in 720p/24/25/30/ and 576/50p in HDV, and 576i/50 & 25fps in DV. A front panel 8-digit LED display provides display of time code, user bits and VTR status. The ProHD concept is built on the worldwide high definition standard of HDV adopted by JVC, Sharp, Sony and Canon.
