This Server-Direct turn-key SAN from a single vendor is suitable for the most demanding video and audio applications. The TERRABLOCK 24EX has all the features you need from shared storage to capture, edit and deliver including :-
- Cross-platform storage for Mac OSX, Win 2K, Win XP (32 and 64 bit), Win 2003 Server, and Linux (Redhat and Suse)
- Support for Mac OS Extended (non-journalled), FAT32, NTFS (Basic), XFS, and EXT3 filing systems
- Up to 256 virtual volumes per server
- Each volume can be independently set to either unprotected, RAID1 (mirror) protected or RAID5 (parity) protected RAID modes
- Expand a volume without loss of data
- Change a volume RAID mode without loss of data
- Tandem TERRABLOCK spanning for scalable performance
- Video file sharing
- Migration tool for data/project transfer
- Compatible with AVID, Adobe, Apple and many more
- No Access, ReadOnly and Read&Write access control per volume per user
- Volumes appear as local SCSI to client to enable maximum compatibility

The 24EX model is a half-populated 24D unit. The 24EX can have it’s capacity doubled and performance increased to match 24D by the installation of an additional matching 12 Facilis drives. See Terrablock 24EX capacity upgrades section for details.
The TERRABLOCK 24EX has the performance to support, 30 streams of DV25 / HDV, 8 streams or DNxHD 220/Pro Res HD, 8 streams of SD Uncompressed 10bit, 2 streams of HD Uncompressed 10bit 1080i, or 1 stream of HD Uncompressed 4:4:4 10bit.
The TERRABLOCK 24EX can be fitted with between two and eight 4G Fibre Channel (4G FC) ports which will support up to uncompressed HD formats. By default the TERRABLOCK 24EX is supplied with two 4G FC ports installed allowing direct connection of two clients. This direct connection client count can be increased up to 8 by the addition of TERRABLOCK 4Gbit 2-user upgrade cards, three FTI-U42XS cards. For client counts above this or to increase capacity/performance by using more than one TERRABLOCK server a Fibre Channel switch must be used to connect clients to the switch.

By default the TERRABLOCK 12D is supplied with two 4G FC ports installed allowing direct connection of two clients. This direct connection client count can be increased up to eight by the addition of TERRABLOCK 4Gbit 2-user upgrade cards, two FTI-U42XS cards, and one FTI-U42ES card.
Terrablock iSCSI Module (SCSI protocol over Ethernet)
Clients using laptops or clients connected via Ethernet can access Facilis virtual volumes through the iSCSI Module (1u Linux workstation). The iSCSI Module includes a 16-port 1Gbit Ethernet switch. Up to 60 total clients of either iSCSI or fiber (direct or fiber switch) can be attached.
