The All-in-one Converter
Finally there is a simple solution for converting analog equipment to SDI-based digital systems because Multibridge will simultaneously convert from digital to analog, and analog to digital. That's true bidirectional analog video and audio conversion. Multibridge works as an independent converter. Rack mount it so you can convert analog equipment such as Betacam SP decks or HDV cameras.

Capture and Playback
Connect the built-in PCI Express 10 Gbps connection to any supported Windows XP or Mac OS X based computer and Multibridge instantly turns into the ultimate break out box capture and playback solution. At an amazingly high speed of 10 Gbps, PCI Express is 25 times faster than FireWire. PCI Express has the speed to handle high video data rate capture and playback, from 10 bit uncompressed standard definition and high definition video, right up to 12 bit RGB 4:4:4 feature film quality and beyond. PCI Express is low cost because it’s already built into many PC motherboards, and a high quality PCI Express connection cable and computer adapter is included free so you get a complete solution, ready to go. Multibridge Eclipse and Multibridge Studio are format agnostic, and include enough video and audio inputs and outputs to connect to virtually anything! High Definition or Standard Definition
Multibridge features dual rate SDI and is completely format agnostic, so you can switch between high definition or standard definition freely and instantly. You can just as easily connect to 270 Mbps standard definition SDI equipment such as Digital Betacam, as well as 1.485 Gbps high definition SDI equipment such as HDCAM or HD-D5 or even the extreme quality of 12 bit 4:4:4 as used on the new Sony HDCAM SR decks. With the ability to update new formats via USB, you can connect to virtually anything now, and in the future. Down Conversion and Real Time Effects
Multibridge features massive processing power fantastic for broadcast quality HD down conversion and other processing based features. Down conversion is great when Multibridge is used as a standalone converter, or when plugged into Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms via the built-in PCI Express connection, you can playback simultaneous HD and SD - great for monitoring in both standards at the same time. Even complex multi layer HD editing can be down converted and played out in standard definition all in real time. Down conversion uses our custom polyphase interpolation and filtering for incredible quality at the highest 10 bit precision.

Apple Mac G5 PCI-X Compatibility
Use the Blackmagic PCI Express Bridge card to allow Multibridge Extreme and Studio to connect to systems such as Apple Macintosh G5 workstations don’t have PCI Express slots. Purchased separately, PCI Express Bridge plugs into any PCI-X 133 MHZ slot and adds a PCI Express connecter on the rear of the computer to connect to Multibridge.

1 or 4 Lane PCI Express
Multibridge includes a 4 lane PCI Express Adapter and 4 Lane PCI Express connection cable so you get the speed for all video formats. If you're only working in standard definition and would like to use a lower cost computer, then just purchase an optional $20 1 Lane PCI Express Adapter to use the wide range of low cost PC motherboards with 1 lane PCI Express slots. Unlike plug in cards, you can simply change the adapter card to use either 1 or 4 lane PCI Express slots.

10 bit RGB 4:4:4.
HD | Iridium XP supports real time output of full bandwidth uncompressed SDTV and HDTV video supporting 10 bit RGB 4:4:4 and 8 bit RGB 4:4:4:4, 10 bit and 8 bit YUV 4:2:2data streams.

Working in uncompressed 10 bit RGB 4:4:4 and 8 bit RGB 4:4:4:4 internal processing keeps the integrity of images and retains colour integrity in Standard Definition and High Definition modes compared to 8 bit based Video solutions. 10 bit provides 1024 levels of colour compared to 8 bit solutions that provide only 256 levels of colour.

HD to SD down conversion.
With the innovative HD-SDI to SD-SDI broadcast quality down converter feature, the HD | Iridium XP allows simultaneous preview of HD material on an HD-SDI monitor and an SD-SDI monitor from the dedicated SD-SDI video output, even while in Dual Link 4:4:4
mode.

Alternatively the HD | Iridium XP can be used to master to SD and HD decks simultaneously using the HD data stream or used as an SD-SDI monitoring alternative to expensive HD-SDI monitors.

HD down conversion is performed in hardware while in HD modes, avoiding low quality software conversions and without the need for a second SD card. This feature is application independent allowing all applications to take advantage of HD to SD down conversion.

Note the OEM HD|Iridium HD|SD card is identical to the HD|IridiumXP card but without the HD to SD downconversion featue.

Professional Broadcast Genlock.
The HD | Iridium XP has full genlocking capability. The output circuits are fully decoupled from the input circuits for unconditionally stable video outputs - even during capture where the card performs as a synchroniser. SDI Outputs meet SMPTE specs (including jitter) at all times with or without Bi level or Tri level genlock.

Large range of application support.
