The FIRST CompactFlash based HD XStream Data Recorder.
Connect any HD-SDI source via coax (up to 150 metres) to the Flash XDR. Use internal or external time-code source; the internal real-time clock will automatically add date and time information. Turn on the Flash XDR and notice the instant start-up and silent operation. Record some video to one of the two hot-swappable CompactFlash cards. Start your edit session by forcing a card eject (the box will automatically start recording to the second card). Quickly transfer the QuickTime or .m2t file to your laptop editor using the Firewire-800 reader. Now “edit while you (continue to) shoot", productively using your laptop as an editing tool, avoiding lengthy ingests from the old FireWire direct-to-laptop capture method.
The ultra-portable, low-power design means you can carry the Flash XDR on any shoot, and enjoy a full-day of battery-powered operation. The rugged, lightweight, self-contained unit can be easily carried in a backpack, placed in a helicopter or used as a pool-feed recorder. Off-line edits of high-end projects (HDCAM SR) are simple to create using HDV data rates. CompactFlash cards can be readily swapped-out for endless recording possibilities (including surveillance). Finally, for maximum versatility, ASI and 1394 outputs support satellite uplink, Internet streaming (via ASI-->IP), or recording to an HDV deck / camcorder / FireWire drive / Walkman device.
Features: - HD-SDI <-> HDV or XDCAM HD MPEG2 Streams
- Also supports MPEG2 4:2:2 @ 50 Mbps
- 1080i, 720p, 1080p23.98
- Embedded or External Audio, Time-code inputs

- Enables File-Based Transfer - 5X~12X Real-time
- Rugged solid state; silent operation
- Compact, Ultra-Portable, under 2kg in weight
- 8 Hour Li-Ion Battery included
- Size= 5.0"(L) x 3.5" (W) x 6.5"(H)

The HD-Connect MI is an HDMI to HD/SDI-SDI converter box featuring embedded audio and time-code.
This unique box converts the uncompressed (YCbCr 4:2:2) video and audio from Sony / JVC deck or camcorder HDMI output into the HD/SD-SDI format used in professional video applications. The HD-Connect MI offers two distinct advantages over other HDV converters: DV as well as HDV support and the ability to playback both 1080i and 720p tapes from a single deck. Users can connect the HD/SD-SDI output to their NLE systems and convert HDV/DV to DVCProHD, DNxHD or uncompressed HD/SD in real-time. Additionally, the HD-Connect MI converts RS-422 deck commands to 1394, so the HDV deck or camcorder can be directly controlled from an editing application. Offline/ Online workflows as well as batch captures are therefore easily supported. Finally, tape dubs from HDV to HDCAM or DigiBeta entail only a single coax connection via the HD/SD-SDI cable which carries video, audio and time-code.

- Works with JVC HDV BR-HD50U Deck, Sony HDV HVR-M25U Deck, Sony HDV HDR-HC3 Camcorder and upcoming AVCHD camcorders
- Saves the cost of purchasing multiple decks for 720p and 1080i support. For example, the Sony M25U deck or HDR-HC3 camcorder will playback both 720p and 1080i tapes (except 720p24 and 1080i24F). (Not possible with native HDV editing).
