This Server-Direct turn-key SAN from a single vendor is suitable for the most demanding video and audio applications. The TERRABLOCK 8XS
has all the features you need from shared storage to capture, edit and deliver including :-
- Cross-platform storage for Mac OSX, Win 2K, Win XP (32 and 64 bit), Win 2003 Server, and Linux (Redhat and Suse)
- Support for Mac OS Extended (non-journalled), FAT32, NTFS (Basic), XFS, and EXT3 filing systems
- Up to 256 virtual volumes per server
- Each volume can be independently set to either unprotected, RAID1 (mirror) protected or RAID5 (parity) protected RAID modes

The TERRABLOCK 8XS has the performance to support, 20 streams of DV25 / HDV, 5 streams of DNxHD 220/Pro Res HD, 5 streams of SD Uncompressed 10bit or 1 stream of HD Uncompressed 10bit 1080i. See chart at end of pricelist for more performance information.
The TERRABLOCK 8XS can be fitted with between two and six 4G Fibre Channel (4G FC) ports. By default the TERRABLOCK 8XS is supplied with two 4G FC ports installed allowing direct connection of two clients. This direct connection client count can be increased up to 6 by the addition of TERRABLOCK 4Gbit 2-user upgrade cards, two FTI-U42XS cards. For client counts above this or to increase capacity/performance by using more than one TERRABLOCK server a Fibre Channel switch must be used to connect clients to the switch.
